This is one of our premiere 4×4 off road excursions, totaling 4 days and 3 nights. This excursion begins in Castle Rock Colorado heading west on a scenic highway leading to the expansive views of Colorado’s high plains. You will climb to 13,000 feet and enjoy scenic views, pass old mine structures, and see two historical railroad tunnels. You will see two high mountain lakes, and camp at an open area around two additional lakes. Day 2 you will climb directly up a famous ski slope, then down to a ghost town, and towards another beautiful mountain lake. You will camp at nearly 12,000 feet. Day 3 you will stop shortly at American Flag Mountain for amazing views. You will have a wide variety of exciting driving including rolling hillsides, difficult rock ledges, and more high mountain driving. With a different angle of seeing the Maroon Bells, you will be in awe of the beauty of this excursion. Camping again at altitude over 10,000 feet. Day 4 takes you over 2 famous passes and Devils Punchbowl. You will have a nice, scenic drive for the remainder of the day, ending back in Castle Rock Colorado.
This excursion totals 480 miles of which 150 miles are on dirt.
